Anna J. (MacNeil) O'Neill, of Medford, a retired teacher, died Friday in the Lahey
Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, after a short illness. She was 74.

Born in Somerville, Mrs. O'Neill lived in Medford for many years. She was a 1935
graduate of Boston University.
She was a teacher at the Lincoln Junior High School in Malden for 32 years.

Mrs. O'Neill was active in the Catholic Daughters of America, the St. James Women's
Guild and the Malden Teachers Association. spokeswoman of the Sydney Street
Improvement Association in the Wellington area of Medford. She also was recording
secretary of the San Bornton Bay Association, an environmental organization of
Winnisquam, N.H., where she maintained a summer home.

She leaves a daughter, Mary J. Schotmeier of Baltimore; a son, James F. O'Neill of
Medford; a sister, Margaret Oberle of Queens Village, N.Y.; a brother, John MacNeil
of Marco Island, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 25, in St. James' Church in

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
